Lego Batman 2 releases this Friday on basically every console available (Xbox360, PS3, Wii, 3DS, Vita). The right time to check out the demo is now! (Gold Xbox Live membership required on Xbox 360).
The demo starts with the annual “Man of the Year” award ceremony in which Lex Luthor and Bruce Wayne are the nominees. The Party is crashed by the Joker and his gang of thieves.
After the very entertaining introduction sequence, you start off fighting off enemies. Combat is simple using the X button on the Xbox360 controller. You can build lego objects by holding the B button on “sparkling” Lego parts wich you find throughout the demo. A Button is for jumping. Y Button switches between Batman and Robin. Other characters are unplayable in the demo. Gameplay is fun and easy to learn. There are a few unique puzzles to be found, some requiring Batman or Robin to wear a different suit which gives them different abilities. The puzzles in the demo are not very difficult, but since this is the beginning of the game, that is not a surprise. The demo ran fluidly on the Xbox 360 and the graphics looked great. The Lego artstyle is really beautiful to look at. The voice acting is on a superb level.
After playing the demo, I am really hyped for the game‘s launch this friday. While the sandbox aspects could not be tested in the demo, I am more than a little excited to find out how Telltale Games handles their first open world game.

Thanks for posting! Everything looks great!
Will this be a sign of what is to come for Lego City Stories?
I hope that this will give us a hint on what Lego City Undercover will be like.Although those 2 games have a very different approach. Chase McCain from Lego City Undercover dosen´t have super powers or high tec crime fighting gadgets
(Except for the Wii U Gamepad)
Bu but he’s a legend!
Great article, very detailed and well laid out. I appreciate this kind of effort.
Great article. There’s just something about Lego games, the whimsy mixed with familiar universes is magical. Lego City is definitely on my games to watch list.
Played this demo on 3DS through the eShop. This preview sums is up nicely. I’m surprised by how much effort they’ve really put into the Lego series. Makes you feel like you’re playing a live action version of the game.
Level design looks solid and fun. I need to play a lego game someday.
